The university dates back to the year 1855, when the founders of modern-day Switzerland created it as a centre of innovation and knowledge. Zürich is a renowned university city, where ETH Zürich and Zürich University are among the most important institutions.

  • About the agreement

    The agreement applies for Agricultural Sciences, Food Science and Environmental Sciences

    At least 2/3 of the courses taken on exchange must be chosen from the Faculty of Agriculture. This agreement is open to both bachelor and master level studies.Please note that bachelor courses are taught in German and require proof of German language proficiency.

    One study place per semester.

  • Who can apply

    To go on exchange to ETH students must have completed a minimum of 120 study points before the commencement of the exchange. 

  • Language of instruction

    English and German. Documentation of English language proficiency. If taking bachelor courses, documentation of German language proficiency.

  • Semester timing

    Autumn semester: September - December.
    Spring semester: February - June.

  • Tuition fees

    Exchange students must pay their NMBU semester fees and complete the semester-registration with NMBU while on exchange. However, it is not necessary to pay any types of fees at the partner university. 

    Note: Although Switzerland is not part of the ordinary Erasmus program, they offer another scholarship for exchange students. You automatically apply for this scholarship when you apply for exchange to a higher education institution in Switzerland. The scholarship is offered by the Swiss-European Mobility Programme. The scholarship (380 CHF/4000 NOK per month) is usually awarded to all applicants.
