My current PhD projects examines the unfoldment of mineral mining in the southern Ecuadorian Amazon. It seeks to analyse the socio-political dynamics of a contested mining development in a highly bio- and cultural diverse region. Drawing on post- and decolonial perspectives, I am particularly interested in the epistemological (knowledge production) and ontological (metaphysical study of reality) battles that are, and have been, fought in this context. I apply an interdisiplinary approach with emphasis on perspectives from social anthropology, political ecology/ontology/economy, science and technology studies and decolonial theory.
