I am the Head of the departement and a professor in Public Health, and I teach and supervise students on the masterprogram in Public Health Science. My research interests are mainly focused on health promoting environments and societies, social sustainability in local communities, and public health partnerships. I am also doing reserach on subjective health complaints (musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, mood disturbances, MUS), work participation, sickness absence, health technology, and modern health worries.

Projects
This project will provide important research-based knowledge on the significance of municipal public health measures by studying the establishment and use of public open spaces for physical and social activities in local communities.
In this project we want to identify and describe sustainable partnerships, and investigate important barriers and facilitators for sucsess.
The purpose of this project is to better understand how local communities in Østfold can be described in terms of social sustainability.
Shopping centres are found to emerge as a new type of public space. However, there is still limited knowledge about how people use shopping centres as public space and the experienced qualities they find there.
'Towards sustainable cities and communities (TOWARDS)' explores local transformations in the face of global challenges.
The project investigates how the location and neighborhood characteristics of dwellings in urban/metropolitan areas influence residents' travel behavior and related greenhouse gas emissions, level of physical activity and health.
