Teaching and exam period:This course starts in Spring parallel. This course has teaching/evaluation in Spring parallel. The course ends three weeks before the end ot semester.

About this course

The course is built up as a series of lectures and compulsory activities that support the students' work on assignments. First, a short assignment is carried out in collaboration with LAA215. Then a design assignment is carried out with drawings and descriptions aimed at construction consisting of several parts.

In order to solve the thesis, all lessons learned through previous courses in the LING programme should be applied. This is e.g. knowledge of materials, foundations, coatings, edges, other constructive solutions, soil and plant use, as well as knowledge of descriptions, drawings and contracts. Relevant literature and project examples are referred to. Project management and process understanding will also be included. In addition to previous lectures, students must find relevant sources through searches in literature, websites and project examples. Guidance will be given in groups.

Learning outcome

Knowledge:

  • The student has knowledge of general guidelines for development towards a more sustainable society with emphasis on biodiversity and stormwater management.
  • The student has knowledge of materials, foundations, coatings, edges and simple structures, stormwater management, as well as soil and vegetation used in greenery

Skill:

  • The student can find out the overall requirements of relevant legislation, Tek17 and Norsk standard, as well as the Byggforsk series and industry standards for the design of a public green system with good quality.
  • The student has the ability to use digital tools for designing an illustration plan, overall technical plan and technical detailed drawings.
  • The student has the ability to create an offer basis for describing an entry price using NS3420

General competence:

  • The student has the ability to carry out a binding collaboration with other students, document this and carry out self-control of the design.
  • The student has the ability to new thinking and independently obtain relevant background material in order to acquire new skills.
  • The student can plan and carry out varied assignments and design in accordance with professional and professional ethical requirements.
  • Learning activities
    Lectures, trips, short assignment with 3D-model, design assignment, cost estimate, group work with supervision. Collaboration with LA students.
  • Teaching support
    • Previous lectures and literature from the LING programme.
    • Help literature on CANVAS
    • The students receive supervision in groups of auxiliary teachers with different professional competence.
  • Prerequisites
    An approved 2 1/2 year study in Landscape engineering from NMBU or other educational institutions, or the equivalent. An approved two-year basic block in Landscape Architecture from NMBU or the equivalent. .
  • Recommended prerequisites
    LAA115/LAA221/LAA233, PHG113/PHG213 and LAD100.
  • Assessment method
    Final project assignment is assessed with grades A-F where F has not been passed. Individual adjustments are then made to the grade for the group's individual members. This will be based on the criteria of efforts / participation / collaboration in the project group and requires that the group has reported on these criteria.

  • Examiner scheme

    External examiner participates in the evaluation of the assessment system itself.

    External examiner participates in grading all exam answers and/or other assessment elements together with internal examiner and assistant teachers in the subject.

  • Mandatory activity
    • A joint assignment filed with the LA students.
    • 100% participation in all oral reviews and excursions tha are market on the time-table - absence requires a medical certificate.
    • 80% participation in other compulsory activities and compulsory supervision marked in the timetable.
    • Approved compulsory activity one year will only be valid for this academic year, as well as for the next year. After this, new approval of the compulsory activity is required.
  • Notes
    NMBU covers one mandatory bus travel to Østfold. Other inspections of the Project area and other expences are covered by the students.
  • Teaching hours
    Lectures and seminars: approx. 35 hours. Workshop/joint reviews: approx. 15 hours. Excursions: approx. 8 hours. Supervision in groups: approx. 2 hours per student.

  • Reduction of credits
    With LAA215, reduction to 5 credits. An exemption is then granted for a joint task and an exit. It is not possible to take LAA215 and LAA216 at the same time.

    Minimum requirements for entrance to higher education in Norway (generell studiekompetanse) or approved vocational training for the study..
