Course contents:
This course provides an introduction to Data Science for students in the Master of Data Science program. The course provides and introduction to essential programming and statistical methods and tools to prepare students from a wide range of backgrounds for the advanced courses in the master program.
Learning outcome:
You will be prepared to follow 200-level courses in the Master of Data Science program, having developed sufficient compentence and skills in statistics and programming.
Learning activities:
Lectures are combined with excericses tailored to students pre-existing skills and competences. Students will apply, test and train their skills in an introductory data science project.
Teaching support:
Teaching assistants will assist and support the students.

Prerequisites:
Admissions requirements for Master in Data Science
Recommended prerequisites:
Mandatory activity:
Attendance at lectures and lab sessions on at least 10 out of 14 days.
Assessment:
Continuous examination of hand-ins. Pass/fail.

150 hours: lectures 14x3 hours = 42 hours, exercises under supervision 14x4 hours = 56 hours, independent study 52 hours
