Wood formation. Macroscopic, microscopic, sub-microscopic and chemical structure of wood. Physical and mechanical properties of wood and wood products. Defects and abnormalities in wood. Silviculture and wood quality. Degradation and durability of wood, and wood protection.
Lectures. Exercises: Microscopic studies of wood. Testing of wood properties.
The course has web pages in Canvas, where also the assignments are announced. The lecturers are available for questions during office hours.

Exercises with approved report.
- Wood anatomy test counting for 40%
- Written exam (3 hours) counting for 60%.
Both parts of the evaluation must be passed to pass the course.
