:Introduction to the content of standards for technical design. Projections, partitions, screws, intersections, welding, measures and toleranses. Development of sketches to complete parts and assemblies. Examples of integrated Rapid FEM-analysis. The course contains compulsory exercises which are done in CAD.
Having passed the course, students will have gained basic knowledge about technical design and skills in using computer-based software such as CAD. They will also have gained knowledge and understanding of the importance of good design and the use of production resources such as materials, production machinery, standards and safety limits in construction.
The course contains lectures and exercises, where lectures are given in parallel with introduction to 3D-design software. Exercises - with practical training with guidance in the use of software is given every week. The exercises demand work outside ordinary class hours, and are the basis for the final assessment in combination with the examen.
The students can make arrangements with the responsible teacher for extra guidance and support in working hours, and also seek support by e-mail.
The reading list is handed out in the first lecture.
Basic computer skills
Some previous training in CAD/3D-programs is an advantage.
The learning process is assessed on basis of a given number of completed exercises (25%) and final test (75%).
Lectures and assignments with academic supervision and self-study: ca. 150 hours.
Special requirements in Science
Type of course:
Lectures and exercises: 4 hours per week.
The course is compulsory for Master students specialising in Machinery-, Process- and Product development (M-MP profile).
The external examiner has many years of professional experience, and gives feedback on current development and needs. The course outline as well as assessment results are discussed in an ongoing process. The course is updated according to current international research.
