Course contents:
Road network planning and profitability calculations, business relationships with logging and transport contractors, operational production- and transportplanning, wood supply chain management.
Learning outcome:


The student shall be able to explain relevant principles and methods for road network planing in varying terrain conditions and respective profitability calculations, establishing contracts and developing business relationships with harvesting- and transport contractors, production planning for harvesting, transport planning for both wood flows and individual loads, wood supply management of both flows and stocks from forest to industry.


Students shall be able to do production- and transport planning in a common spreadsheet such as EXCEL.

General competence:

The student shall be familiar with working methods for coordination of supply operations from forest to mill.

Recommended prerequisites:
Mandatory activity:
Excursions must be passed, oral presentations and discussions around literature seminars and exercises
Written exam counts 50 % (3,5 h) and assignments count 50 %. Both must be passed for passing the exam.
Nominal workload:
300 hours with lectures, labworks, excursions and self study.
Entrance requirements:

Minimum requirements for entrance to higher education in Norway (generell studiekompetanse)

7,5 p forest engineering at bachelors level (NMBU (SKOG240), INN-Evenstad (6EV107) or equivalent). 

Type of course:
24 lecture hours, 48 hours labwork, 3 excursion days
External examiner assesses all exam papers. Excursions approved by staff.
Allowed examination aids: B1 Calculator handed out, no other aids
