I. Forest biology, technical operations and economic basis.
II. Analysis of individual actions (planting, thinning, logging maturity at clear-cut, other logging circumstances, investments in machines and roads, ecosystem services).
III. Analysis at property level (objective and guidelines, influence of taxes on resource allocation, accounting analysis, finance and budget, use of bio-economic modelling for long-term analyses, investment strategies, risk, forest valuation).
Lecture-based, with exercises. Project-based. Problem-based.
Teachers and assistants are available for questions during the entire teaching semester. Supervision is offered and is supported by use of Canvas.
To be distributed when the course starts.
Three hand-in assignments and a term paper on forest planning.
Final exam counts 100% of finale grade (3 hours). All of compulsory assignments must be approved in order pass the course.
Minimum requirements for entrance to higher education in Norway (generell studiekompetanse)
