About this course

The course will give insight in different areas of urban farming, with emphasis on plants. There will be focus on group work, and the groups will present topics on different areas in urban farming several times during the January block.

Learning outcome

Knowledge:

Can describe and explain the importance of non-traditional plant cultivation in urban areas and other places where traditional plant cultivation can be a challenge.

Can describe methods for different solutions in urban agricultural projects.

Skills:

Can apply professional knowledge to find, evaluate and refer to information and subject matter within the subject area

Can work in interdisciplinary groups with different issues

Can present subject matter and discuss solutions with others across subject areas

Can carry out practical projects in collaboration with others

General competence:

Master relevant professional tools, techniques and forms of expression in the course, and reflect on various topics related to urban agriculture.

Can develop relationships with students across disciplines and cohorts to create a good learning environment

Can use professional knowledge across disciplines in discussions

Can discuss and come up with solutions to problems related to various projects in urban agriculture

  • Canvas, guidance from teachers in group work and presentations

  • The examiner will be involved in the revision and approval of the exam.
  • First day of January block, participation in lectures, group work, presentations, practical work and field trip(s).
  • For a specialization within urban farming, a term paper (PJH205) is offered in the spring parallell.
