A candidate who has completed the qualification will gain the following:
The student will gain insight and knowledge of the subject conservation biology and conservation of biodiversity. This includes relevant knowledge of genetics, demography, ecology, land management and social sciences.
The student will be able to acquire relevant background information about the specific challenges and professional issues in conservation biology and conservation of biological diversity, to work for the conservation of biological diversity as an interdisciplinary task, as well as analyze, present and contribute to discussions about the challenges and issues.
The student shall after the course be familiar with the different professional themes in conservation biology relevant to the conservation of biodiversity, and contribute to discussions of these challenges and issues.
Lectures, discussions and self-study.
The teacher responsible for the course is available during office hours to answer questions about the subject.
Primack, A Primer of Conservation Biology. 5. ed. 2012.. In addition, selected articles about conservation biology. Everything that is dealt with in the lectures, including material given by guest lecturers, is curriculum, as are the articles.
The written examination lasts 3 hours.
Structured teaching: 30 hours. Students" own effort - preparation for discussions, lectures and exam: 120 hours.
