The course runs both autum and spring with equivalent exam periods
Course frequency: Every semester. Start up in autum and spring

The course is reserved for students whom attend the master programme in property development
Course contents:
The master thesis consists of a report from an independent research work carried out in the last term of the study. The subject is compulsory for the master's degree. The student will receive guidance throughout the process by an appointed supervisor. The guidance should ensure that the student gets advice on literature, practical advice on data collection, and that ethical guidelines for the research are followed. The exam consists of the submission of the thesis and an oral examination in the form of a presentation and discussion about the task. The oral examination might lead to an adjustment of the exam grade. As an alternative, the thesis might be written as articles, with an initial umbrella.
Learning outcome:

After a completed master's thesis the student can:

- Complete independent research work from a chosen research question

- Use relevant theories and research methods

- Analyze and draw conclusions from a research project

- Convey knowledge, both written and orally, based on a reseach project

- Follow the ethical guidlines of scientific research

The Master's thesis is reserved for students whom have been accepted into the master programme in property development and that have passed the most relevant courses.
Recommended prerequisites:
Completed and passed the course MAST303
Mandatory activity:
The preparation of a supervition contract with the appointed supervisor, including a time schedule for agreed activitiesThe attendance at, and participation in, the agreed guidance
Assessment:
The written thesis and the oral exam counts for 100 % of the grade

Type of course:
Individual work with guidance. Two students may write a thesis together.
Note:

Guidance can be given in English.

The main supervisor must be one of the scientific staff at NMBU. Staff from other educational- and research institutions may be used as co-supervisors.

Examiner:
An external examinator will participate in both the assessment of the written thesis and the oral exam
