LAD100 Introduction to Digital Tools in Landscape Architecture
About this course
Through videolectures, optional and mandatory tasks, students will be introduced to basic digital techniques to be included in their projects in subsequent courses. The course consists of four main parts. Part 1: introduction to CAD (Computer Aided Design) for basic drawing operations using Autodesk AutoCAD. Part 2: introduction to graphic design and layout using Adobe tools (Photoshop, InDesign, illustrator). Part 3: introduction to 3D modelling using SketchUp. Part 4: introduction to GIS (Geographic Information systems).
Learning outcome
Knowledge: Students will get basic knowledge in digital drawing and illustration tools for landscape architecture, landscape engineering and city planning, as well as some training in digital techniques for use in planning, analysis, design and presentations.
Skills: Students will practice with digital tools and techniques for planning, design, analysis and presentation.
General competence: After completing the course, students will have a general overview over the main digital tools and techniques that are been used for planning, design and presentation and should have the capacity to start working with it for their forthcoming projects.
