About this course

The students will develop a business idea through a student company that is established in connection with the course. A business plan should be written, as well as a report describing the company's processes. Selected companies have the opportunity to participate in various competitions. In the course, recommended literature is provided. Acquisition of material takes place through lectures, experience-based work in small groups / supervision, self-study and recommended literature.

Learning outcome

.The students will, after completing the course, know and be able to use process tools for idea generation, business modeling and collaboration / team development, as well as carry out expectations clarifications on the market, partners, funding sources. Knowledge of the implementation of market analyses, and the practical marketing / sale of a product or service is also important. Students will be familiar with laws and regulations for the start, operation and liquidation of a company, and be able to prepare budgets and exercise good financial management.
  • The course is presented with a combination of lectures and experience-based work in small groups/ supervision. The students will be followed up by mentors who are either internal or from the business community. It will be planned and expected that the students participate and present at local and regional arenas
  • .The basis for the overall evaluation is personal log, idea report, process report and business plan that counts 70% and oral presentation that counts 30%.
  • .The companies will be registered in the Young Entrepreneurship and the Unit Register in Brønnøysund, as well as participate in the Venture Cup, the NMBU championship in student company, possibly other arrangement. Students will attend a kickoff event at the beginning of the semester. Two guidences a month throughout the course are compulsory.
  • Minimum 10 studenter
  • 4 hours per week. Lectures and exercises. The course will be structured in themes and lectures will be held as introductions to those. Most of the learning activites will be conducted through independent team work under supervision.
