About this course
The textbook Biochemistry of Lipids, Lipoprotein and Membranes, 6th edition, by Neale Ridgway and Roger McLeods, will be followed. In addition a range of new review articles within the fields of lipid metabolism in liver, muscle and adipose tissue will be part of the course. These articles will be selected individually based on each student"s main research focus.
Learning outcome
Knowledge
- Students gets thorough knowledge of lipid metabolism in the major metabolic tissues liver, adipose tissue and muscle.
General competence
- Students achieve advanced up-to-date knowledge of major areas in the fields of lipid, lipoprotein and membrane biochemistry.
- This is primarily a self-study course. If needed, teacher-assisted colloquium groups can be arranged.
- Teachers will be available for questions.
- Basic knowledge in biochemistry and physiology.
- This course is for students who have already taken an introductory course in biochemistry and who are familiar with the basic concepts and principles of biochemistry, and who have a general background in the area of lipid metabolism.
- One hour oral examination with an external examiner present.
- An external sensor will assess the examination.
