Course contents:
Thorough introduction to quantitative genetics: kinship and inbreeding, genetic parameters, breeding values, selection, breeding methods and inbreeding in populations. Will also cover aspects relevant for plant breeding and will have some joint lectures with BIO248.
Learning outcome:
Students should be able to analyse the effect of different approaches to breeding (in pure- and cross-breeding) and possess sufficient competence to do further studies in the topic of breeding and population management.

Lectures and obligatory assignments.
Teaching support:
Canvas, class discussions, tutoring with assignments, chat in Canvas and responses to questions in class.

Lecture notes/recordings and assignments.
Prerequisites:
Statistics, equivalent to STAT100. Genetics, equivalent to BIO120.

Mandatory activity:
All exercises must be passed.
Assessment:
Written examination, 3 hrs. A-F. + assignments must have been evaluated to "Passed"
Nominal workload:
300 hours.
