About this course
Learning outcome
- Lectures on key concepts and theories and exercises on these. Supervised colloquia and compulsory tests. For the exercises, the students use both analytical solving and numerical solving on a computer.
- Colloquia with fellow students. Supervision from the lecturer upon appointment. Supervision through the course web site.
- Fysikk 1 from or FYS100. R2 from upper secondary school and MATH111 and MATH112 (taken simultaneously).
- Fysikk 2 from upper secondary school.
Three written tests of 1 hour. The average grade from the two best tests: 25 % of the final grade.
Final written examination, 3.5 hours counts 75 % of the final course grade.
You need to pass both parts to pass the course. Both parts needs to be taken if you retake the course.
- The external and internal examiner jointly prepare the exam questions and the correction manual. The external examiner reviews the internal examiner's examination results by correcting a random sample of candidates exams as a calibration according to the Department's guidelines for examination markings.
- Weekly compulsory colloquium.
- Teaching period: 14 weeks (2 weeks for examinations). 13 weeks of organised teaching. Lectures: 2 x 2 hours x 13 weeks = 52 hours. Exercise review: 1 x 2 hours x 13 weeks = 26 hours. Calculation exercises: 2-4 hours x 13 weeks = 26-52 hours.
