Course contents:
Population genetics and natural selection, the density and distribution of populations, population dynamics, life-history strategies, interactions (competition, predation, mutualism), social ecology, food chains, succession, ecosystem-processes, landscape ecology and geographical ecology.
Learning outcome:

A candidate who has completed the qualification has the following learning outcomes of the course:

Knowledge: A basic understanding of ecological theory on population genetics and natural selection, the density and distribution of populations, population dynamics, life-history strategies, interactions (competition, predation, mutualism), social ecology, food chains, succession, ecosystem-processes, landscape ecology and geographical ecology.

Skills: The student learns to critically consider ecological problems.

General competence: The course gives the student an essential fundament for further, more advanced studies in ecology.
