Course contents:
The course covers selected functions of relevance for natural sciences and economics. Mathematical notions and computational techniques related to limits, continuity, differentiation, integration, analysis and optimization in one and two variables, with and without constraints is the core of the course. Geometric series and simple differential equations are also covered.
Learning outcome:

After  course completion masters:

1. analysis of function that occur in economic models

2. Basic differentiation and algebraic manipulations in one and two variables

3. Transform a verbally formulated model into its mathematical equivalent

Learning activities:

Lectures covers the curriculum. 

Students get problem sets which aims to develop mathematical insight as well as computational skills. Supervised study groups will aid the students in achieving this goal.

Recommended prerequisites:
Students are encourage to take MATH001
Written exam, 3,5 hours (100%).

300 hours
Entrance requirements:
Minimum requirements for entrance to higher education in Norway (generell studiekompetanse).
Reduction of credits:
10 credits with MATH100.
An external sensor reviews the curruculum, exam and grading.
