Basic economic theory and how the theory/philosophy can help to understand current social problems. To a large extent, students will be activated in discussions and by writing topic assignments. In both of these activities academic working methods will be required.
- Students will have knowledge of basic subjects in Economics, such as market, rationality, equilibrium and models.
- Students will have experience in communicating economic issues orally and in writting.
- Students will have experience in planning and implementing tasks together with others in groups.
Lectures, reading of articles, field trip, two seminar meetings, presentations and discussion of assignments.
Parts of: Røed Larsen, Erling (2004): Alt du vil vite om samfunnsøkonomi, Gyldendal. Plus supplementary material. Reading list will be distributed in the beginning of the course.
Two topic assignments and two approved critic assignments. No re-examination.
Minimum requirements for entrance to higher education in Norway (generell studiekompetanse).
Reduction of credits:
ECN101 - 5 ECTS, EDS140 - 5 ECTS.
