Teaching exam periods:
Spring parallel
Course frequency: Every year, in the spring parallell.
First time: Study year 2011-2012
Course contents:
The subject deals with how different factors affect the yield in plant production. The focus is at the crop level rather than the individual plant level. Light energy, water and nutrition. Photosynthesis, photorespiration and respiration. Growth and Development. Allocation of assimilates. Limiting factors. Product quality. Models that simulate yield development.
Learning outcome:
Can describe qualitative and quantitative relationships determining how light energy, water and nutrition can be transformed to plant products.
Can explain how this is controlled by traits and processes in plants, management and other environmental factors.
Learning activities:
The subject consists of lectures and practical excercises throughout the semester where the students conduct their own experiment in the greenhouse with plant physiological measurements. Lab reports must be submitted and approved.
Teaching support:
Lectures, practical excercises and other information will be available in Canvas.
