Course contents:
The course gives an introduction to main topics within aquaculture species and production. Special emphasise is given to fish health prophylaxis. Other topics are reproduction, stress-response, product quality, production systems and water quality.
Learning outcome:
The students will through practical examples see the benefit of the theoretical knowledge. The final aim is to create a situation allowing the students an insight into the consequences of implementing biological knowledge in a production situation.
Learning activities:
Teaching consists of a combination of lectures, demonstrations and exercises. The course also includes a trip to the Bergen area, where various aquaculture enterprises are visited.
Teaching support:
Teachers will be available in person during field week, exercises and demonstrations. The teachers will have on site, interactive and e-mail question sessions.

BSc in life science.

Type of course:
The runs in the August block with a full-time lecture session combined with short exercises and a personal literature project. The literature project relates to the aquaculture of different countries and regions.
