About this course
The course provides an introduction to the four topics of leadership, leadership roles and volunteerism; governance and board work; NMBU's and the university sector's societal mission, mission, and vision; strategy, entrepreneurship, and innovation. The topics are respectively illuminated through relevant theory and practical cases, while significant emphasis is placed throughout the course on developing the academic connections between them. The connections are clarified through the use of practical, real-world examples, as well as in the form of integrative theory and analytical frameworks. The course makes students better equipped to function in the role of student representative at NMBU and provides competence in leadership-relevant organizational theoretical topics.

After completing the course, the student should have the following learning outcomes, divided into knowledge, skills, and general competence:

- has knowledge of governance and leadership, strategy, and tools used to implement change
- has good knowledge of volunteerism and volunteer management
- has knowledge of the board's tasks and working methods
- has knowledge of NMBU as an organization and the challenges the organization faces in light of societal development

- can actively work in a board and have a clear understanding of the division of labor between the board and daily management
- can use relevant insights and critically reflect on the prerequisites for mastering a leadership role when interacting with employees and volunteers
