About this course

Lectures: The most important standards and regulations are presented. : An intensive course on the use of IT-based description programmes for new construction and management is given. Semester assignment: Project assignments which reflect the course topics, including a construction and management description following NS 3420. The course content corresponds with the content of parallell course LAA 233

Learning outcome

The students will have basic knowledge of:

  • materials and techniques for landscape constructions
  • the different stages in a construction process
  • contractor selection
  • relevant building codes
  • budget estimates

The students will have basic skills in:

  • assess prerequisites for the choice of materials and dimensioning of landscape constructions
  • setting up procurement documents
  • using relevant software

The students will have general competence in:

  • combining problem solving and own reflections in assignments
  • Learning activities

    The students are expected to:

    • read carefully the assignment tasks
    • take notes from lectures and presentations
    • collaborate on given assignments
    • invite to group meetings when required for progress
    • seek supervision
    • discuss best practice
    • present projects graphically and orally
    • work individually and in groups
    • take part in excursions
  • Teaching support
    Students receive supervision in groups, in connection with the semester assignment.

    Relevant parts of regulations and Norsk Standard. Other relevant background informatioin will be handed out during the course.

    The first two years of study in the respective study programmes, possibly the equivalent, must be completed.

  • Assessment method
    One assignment.

  • Examiner scheme
    An external examiner assists in the preparation of the guidelines for examiners and the arrangement for assessing the students' work. The external examiner also assesses some of the student works.
  • Mandatory activity
    • 80% of all assignments must be handed in and passed
    • Participate in all reviews
