Research and teaching within water chemistry, environmental chemistry, radioecology and ecotoxicology, linking chemistry and biological responses. Research focus mainly on aquatic environment (freshwater and the interface between freshwater and seawater), to study transfer of inorganic compounds and to identify key parameters affecting mobilisation/speciation/bioavailability/bioaccumulation and toxicity of radionuclides/metals, and use of countermeasures. Significantly field work experience national and internationally (planning, sampling as well performing in situ/at site tests) as well as laboratory experience to perform controlled exposure tests. Determination of inorganic compounds in environmental samples (soil/water/sediments/biota) and stress responses in fish.

More than 25 years of experience in research on international and national project included EU projects, Dr. philos from University of Life Sciences (2005), responsible teacher in two courses at NMBU (Aquatic chemistry (KJM220) and Environmental Pollutants and Ecotoxicology (FMI310)) and regularly teaching in 10 other BSc and MSc courses at NMBU since 2011.  Supervised PhD candidates   and MSc candidates (https://static02.nmbu.no/mina/ansatte/_ans_master-veil.php?levelx=2&sprx=n&mpx=M&nidx=hantei&navx=Hans-Christian%20Teien)
