Research in the field of fish virology with specific competence on the fish viruses PMCV, SAV, PRV, ASCV, ISAV and IPNV infecting Atlantic salmon. Particular interest in identification and characterization of virus/virus genome/virus proteins, replication mechanisms/recombination, but also host immune response, vaccination and diagnostic methods. Teaches vet students in general aquaculture, fish virology and diagnostics. Supervisor of vet students, research track students and PhD candidates related to Aquatic Medicine. Scientific responsible of an online continuing education course in Fish health (VU-VET330, 10ECTS). Scientific responsible of laboratories of Aquamedicine unit. Member of administrative group of Aquamedicine unit, headed by professor Øystein Evensen.
