  • Rafal Chudy, Stipendiat - INA

    • Position: PhD candidate in forest economics.
    • Education:
      Postgraduate studies in financial controlling in capital markets groups at Warsaw School of Economics (SGH), Poland.
      Master Degree in forestry at Warsaw University of Life Sciences (WULS-SGGW), Poland.
      Master Degree in forest management at Swedish University of Agriculture Sciences (SLU), Sweden.
      Master Degree in forestry and environmental resources at North Carolina State University (NCSU), United States of America. 
    • Work experience:
      Forestry officer in the Department of Analyses and Planning at National Forest Holding “State Forests” (PGL LP) in the Regional Directorate of State Forests in Lodz, Poland. Responsible for analyses of financial, economic and forest management plans, their executions and reporting.
      Forest Service Specialist at the Forest District “Grotniki” at National Forest Holding “State Forests” (PGL LP) in Poland. Responsible for investments, renovations and forest education.
      Employment as forestry analyst at National Forest Holding “State Forests” (PGL LP) in the Regional Directorate of State Forests in Lodz, Poland. Responsible for analyses of game management, ground leasing, wood sales projections. 
    • Organizational experience / advice / controls etc. Relevant appointments and / or management experience:
      Student representative in the Association of Foresters and Wood Technologists (SITLiD) in Poland
      Deputy forester at the Forest District “Grotniki” at National Forest Holding “State Forests” (PGL LP) in Poland. Responsible for all regional operations, forest management plan, forest protection programs. In addition, I was playing the mediator role in local conflicts of interests.
      Part-time lecturer of forest economics at the University of Lodz (Poland). Responsible for preparation and execution of Bachelor level course.
      Responsible for the organization of the 4th ISPRS Summer School „Natural environment management, monitoring and conservation”. 13-19 July 2009, Warsaw. 
    • Why do you want to be member of the Board?
      I would like to use my administrative and management experience and skills to help to make the right decisions about strategy options, financing, legal issues and organizational design questions that are highly concerned at the Faculty Board. In addition, I strongly believe I will be a good representative of the temporary scientific employees, especially in terms of hard work towards better academic environment.
    • What do you see as the main challenges for the board?
      As the main challenge, I see the mediation process of the conflicts between departments. Definitively this process should leads toward better solutions for research and teaching improvement and only good decisions of the Faculty Board can make it happen.
      Another challenge that I would like to address is related to continuous development towards better information flow, decline of the bureaucracy and strengthening cooperation across NMBU departments and external bodies.

    • Yrkeserfaring: Startet som stipendiat rett etter fullført mastergrad. Har ellers jobbet som sommerstudent ved Borregaard og læringsassistent i flere fag ved NTNU

    • Organisasjonserfaring/råd/styrer etc. Relevante tillitsverv og/eller ledererfaring:
      Har vært tillitsvalgt i Tekna Biotek siden 2013 og sitter nå i fagkomiteen i Oslo. Var varamedlem i fakultetsstyret i fjor.

    • Hvorfor vil du bli styremedlem?
      For å være med å påvirke hvilken retning fakultetet og NMBU skal ta med tanke på forskning og undervisning.

    • Hva ser du som de viktigste utfordringene for fakultetsstyret?
      Den viktigste utfordringen for fakultetsstyret er å fremme samarbeid mellom instituttene og sørge for en god informasjonsflyt slik at alle drar i samme retning.

    • Work experience: Research Assistant (Novel Tech Ethics, Dalhousie University, Halifax Canada) 
    • Organizational experience / advice / controls etc. Relevant appointments and / or management experience:
      I was the co-ordinator for two groups on campus at Dalhousie University, the Society for Women in and around Philosophy (a social group) and the Dalhousie Philosophy Graduate Students Society (a departmental society).

    • Why do you want to be member of the Board?
      I am interested to get to know the university where I am now working, and to see how the politics work.

    • What do you see as the main challenges for the board?
      The current conjoining of the two universities has raised several questions about how faculties should continue to be managed that have been brought up in our departmental meetings this year, and the management of funds for research directly impacts temporary workers such as myself.
  • Hans Nicolai Adam, Postdoktor - Noragric

    • Education: PhD in Development Studies at Noragric (NMBU), MA Economics (University of Kerala, India)
    • Work experience: Teaching experience at various courses at NMBU, Advisor to a NGO in India, project co-ordinator for research collaborations
    • Organizational experience / advice / controls etc. Relevant appointments and / or management experience:
      Co-leader of FODOS at NMBU (2012-13), Representative Research Council (2011-12)
    • Why do you want to be member of the Board?
      To effectively represent the interests temporary employee interests at the Faculty level. Given my knowledge and experience of being involved with some of them in earlier assignments, I have a good overview of the issues and hope to further push for better conditions.  
    • What do you see as the main challenges for the board?
      One of the key issues that I would like to tackle is to discuss the employment conditions of the temporary staff, especially with respect to extension periods and short-term contracts. As of present this presents a major challenge - for the departments to offer such employment and for temporary staff to continue applying for projects/assignments. This aspects needs further discussion and resolution.
