Checklist for new students Spring 2017

The Student Information's website with important links and news | Important dates

NMBU would like to welcome you as a new student!  We hope your semester abroad with NMBU will be both exciting and academically rewarding.  Please read carefully through the information below.

1. Student Computer Services

Once you have collected your introduction packet from the Student Information Centre (SiT), you can begin the account registration. The Student’s Computer Services provide assistance in creating your user accounts at NMBU including email and Fronter accounts, and laptop registration for use at SiÅs housing. The Student’s Computer Services is located in the Saghellinga building that you find behind the Clock building across the parking lot.

2. Semester Fee

Erasmus exchange students are not required to pay the semester fee.  You will receive a semester card (pink card) in your package when you arrive. If you have received an invoice in your package, this means that you have to pay the semester fee. The deadline is February 1st. Semester fee payments for students without a Norwegian bank account can be made at COOP or KIWI grocery stores.

3. Student Card

You can get your student card (free) at the Computer Services department in Saghellinga building. Remember to bring a legal form of identification (which has a photo of you) to get a student card. Your passport/travel ID card is sufficient. The student card gives you access to buildings on campus after opening hours, loan of books from the library and student discounts when paired with your semester card.  The semester card is also available as a mobile application: read more here.

4. Class Schedule

Teaching and Exam schedule is where you can select your courses and have a calendar generated showing date, time and location of each course. Remember to check that you do not have any examinations on the exact same date and time.

5. Changing Courses

If you are staying for the Spring semester and need to change some courses, you will need to first speak with a student advisor about your course selection.  There will be a meeting at SiT on January 30th with most student advisors present to help with this.  Please note that any changes to the Erasmus learning agreement MUST be reported to your home institution.  Please contact utveksling@nmbu.no for assistance in you are unable to attend.

6. Connect to Wifi on Campus Ås

Here you can find guides and tutorials on how to connect to the Wifi "Eduroam". Eduroam is availiable at campus Ås.

7. Do you require special assistance?

If you have special needs and/or a disability, it is possible to apply for assistance.

8. Registering and Reporting to the Police (if you will be in Norway for more than one month)
