Travelling to Norway

NEW STUDENTS – Outside of Norway

NMBU has decided to make the autumn semester digitally available for new international students starting one of our English language degree programs. Due to travel restrictions both in Norway and abroad, the autumn semester 2020, including exams in December, can be completed from a distance on digital platforms. (International students who are already in Norway can attend on-campus classes as determined by the faculty and course instructor(s).) Students who are currently outside of Norway can plan to arrive on campus for the start of the spring semester in January 2021 or travel to Norway when the travel restrictions are lifted if this happens during the autumn semester.

RETURNING STUDENTS – Outside of Norway

International students currently residing outside of Norway who plan to return to NMBU this autumn semester are strongly encouraged to follow the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration’s (UDI’s) about the corona situation. Only persons with valid residence permits are allowed into the country. Applications for renewal of the study permit submitted from abroad will be processed. However, even if the renewed study permit is granted, it is unclear when the travel restrictions will be lifted and when you can enter Norway.

HOUSING FOR ALL STUDENTS

Before making travel plans, housing must be secured. Students can contact the SiÅs Housing Office to inquire whether on-campus is available. Space is limited.
