Warm welcome to our new PhD student

Our new PhD student Mila Pelkonen is not afraid of fieldwork

Mila Pelkonen has background in radiochemistry and environmental radioactivity. She received her MSc in radiochemistry in 2018 at University of Helsinki where her research focused on mobilization of radionuclides and trace metals in tailings at mining sites in Finland.  After graduation, she worked in the environmental surveillance unit at the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority in Finland (STUK).

In her PhD, Mila will be focusing on speciation and dynamic terrestrial ecosystem transfer of both anthropogenic and naturally occurring radionuclides.
