Guest lecture: Simulation of Fukushima releases in the Pacific Ocean and uptake by sediments and biota

Title of the lecture: Simulation of Fukushima releases in the Pacific Ocean and uptake by sediments and biota

Time: Monday June 17th at 12:15 – 13:00

Place: NMBU, Campus Ås, Clock Building, Lecture Hall U120

Lecturer: Dr. Raúl Periáñez, University of Seville

Raúl Periáñez is senior researcher and lecturer in the Department of Applied Physics I, University of Seville, Spain.

His current research areas are numerical modelling of hydrodynamics, sediment transport and radionuclide dispersion in aquatic environments as well as numerical modelling of tsunami propagation and geological processes. Nowadays, he is chairing the marine dispersion working group in the IAEA MODARIA and MODARIA-II (Modelling and Data for Radiological Impact Assessments) programs. These projects are dedicated to the development and intercomparison of radionuclide dispersion models.
