Shane Scheibener has background in ecotoxicology. He received his MSc in Zoology at North Carolina State University where his research focused on aquatic insect physiology and the impacts from freshwater salinization. In his PhD, he will be focusing on the food chain transfer of radionuclides/trace elements to fish and the associated biological effects (i.e., toxicokinetics and toxicodynamics).
Ian Byrnes has background in physics and mathematics along with radiation safety. He received his MSc in Radiation Health Physics from Colorado State University where he studied the sedimentation of radiocesium in irrigation ponds contaminated by the nuclear accident in Fukushima, Japan.
In his PhD, he will be focusing on environmental behavior of radioactive particles at nanometer to micrometer size.
