PhD scholarship on cumulative hazard and risk assessment of complex mixtures and multiple stressors

The research will focus on experimental identification and characterization of cumulative hazard and risk of complex mixtures and multiple stressors under ecologically-relevant exposure scenarios.

The main tasks of the PhD position are to:

  1. Improve our understanding of the exposure, uptake and excretion of multiple stressor (metals, radionuclides and organic compounds) in marine organisms.
  2. To experimentally evaluate the role of speciation (metals) and bioavailability (organic chemicals), and toxicokinetics on combined toxicity of multiple stressors in selected marine organisms.
  3. Assess how interactions occurring during exposure and uptake of pollutants may modify the toxicity of ecological-relevant mixtures of aquatic pollutants.

The position is part of the NIVA-led Research Council of Norway funded project “Cumulative hazard and risk assessment of complex mixtures and multiple stressors (MixRisk)"
