The research will focus on experimental identification and characterization of cumulative hazard and risk of complex mixtures and multiple stressors under ecologically-relevant exposure scenarios.
The main tasks of the PhD position are to:
- Improve our understanding of the exposure, uptake and excretion of multiple stressor (metals, radionuclides and organic compounds) in marine organisms.
- To experimentally evaluate the role of speciation (metals) and bioavailability (organic chemicals), and toxicokinetics on combined toxicity of multiple stressors in selected marine organisms.
- Assess how interactions occurring during exposure and uptake of pollutants may modify the toxicity of ecological-relevant mixtures of aquatic pollutants.
The position is part of the NIVA-led Research Council of Norway funded project “Cumulative hazard and risk assessment of complex mixtures and multiple stressors (MixRisk)"
