Coming from the typical Norwegian October weather with 2-3 degrees, 30 degrees and sun was nice for a change. There were many interesting talks given by people from all over the world, and we did our best to contribute. The organizers even made sure we got to taste caipirinhas the first evening, so we must conclude it was a successful conference.
Lindis presented an overview of the NORWAT project, titled “Dispersion and Transfer of NOR and Metals due to Construction in U-bearing Minerals. Case: Road and Tunnel construction”. Frøydis had a poster and a short poster presentation: “Leaching of NORM and toxic metals from alum shale under oxic and anoxic conditions”. One important result of our talks at the conference are that there will be one session at the next NORM conference all focusing on environmental risk and impact.
