At the start of your PhD there is nothing more important than notetaking, and yet many of the strategies people used for previous degrees and in their work-life just aren’t fit for purpose.
Bullet points won’t cut it. And it’s not just about bullet points.
You need a system to deal with the volume and you need to manage change in your thinking over the longer term.
In this workshop we will explore powerful notetaking tasks that help your critically review the literature, project management, develop your thinking and build an effective writing habit as a side-effect. Then we'll see how this can build towards writing a literature review itself. By the end of this workshop you'll walk away with practical tools you can apply straight away.
About the speaker: Dr Dan Soule is a sought-after research writing trainer, known for his bright and energetic style. A former university lecturer and published academic, Dan now teaches at universities all over the UK, Ireland and Norway. Dan is also a fiction author, having published nine books and over 30 short stories, and the only thing he loves as much as writing is teaching.
