Norwegian hot-spot for tourism, sports and outdoor recreation

MMV conferences allow researchers to share ideas and experiences relating to the many facets of visitor monitoring and management, more specifically policies, problems, and innovative solutions to those problems. This years conference in Bordeaux, France, gathered more than 200 participants from 31 countries.

The main theme for the 10th MMV conference is «Managing outdoor recreation experiences in the late Anthropocene – Resources, markets and innovations”

- Higly relevant for MMV

BIOTOUR analyses key conditions for future developments of outdoor recreation and nature-based tourism in the new bio economy in Norway. The scope of the MMV conference thus encompasses the vital issues of the BIOTOUR project. The next MMV will concur with the conclusion of the BIOTOUR project in 2020.

- I am very pleased to welcome the global research community on recreational and protected areas to Norway, says Sjur Baardsen, Headmaster of NMBU.

The headmaster remarks that the faculty has a broad and long-standing competence on nature and the environment, and sustainable use of natural resources.

- Thus, our research and competence in this field are highly relevant for the issues addressed at the MMV conferences. In addition, NMBU has great experience with hosting international events, Baardsen adds.
