Arena for Sustainable Food Systems invites to its opening seminar

For the opening seminar we have invited Dr. John Ingram from Oxford University. John is a leading figure in food system research with over 20 years’ experience in food security and food systems research, education and outreach. He leads the Food Programme at ECI, Oxford University, and is a part of the Oxford's Future of Food Programme.  

In his talk "Transforming food systems outcomes: What needs to be done and what role can universities play?", Dr. Ingram will talk about conceptualizing Sustainable Food Systems, as well as share insights from Oxford University’s work with Food Systems. 

Program: 

9.00-9.15: Introduction from the arena leaders Hanne Fjerdingby Olsen and Ola Westengen 

9.15-10.15: Lecture from Dr. John Ingram. Transforming food systems outcomes: What needs to be done and what role can universities play? 

10.15-10.30: Break with fruit and coffee. 

10.30-14.00: Workshop for participants of the arena. 

NOTE: The first part of the seminar is open to everyone, both participants of the arena and to anyone who is interested in sustainable food systems and the work of the arena. From 10.30 there will be held a workshop for the participants of the arena.

About John Ingram

Dr John Ingram leads the Food Programme at ECI, Oxford University. Dr Ingram is a leading international food system scholar with more than 20 years’ experience in food security and food systems research, education and outreach. He has designed and led regional food system research projects in Europe, south Asia, southern Africa and the Caribbean and has conceived, developed and/or led a range of major international research initiatives. In addition to leading the food systems research group within ECI, he also leads the multi-university post-graduate Interdisciplinary Food Systems Teaching and Learning' programme (IFSTAL) and coordinates the UK Global Food Security programme 'Resilience of the UK Food System'. Dr Ingram is part of The Oxford Martin Programme on the Future of Food  - an interdisciplinary programme of research and policy engagement concerning all aspects of the food system at the University of Oxford. The Future of Food programme act as a focal point for food system research within Oxford University and facilitate interactions between Oxford researchers and those at other institutions.
