New project on salmon smoltification

With our recent discovery of a novel paralog of the thyroid-stimulating hormone (tshβb), it has become evident that this paralog may hold the key for understanding smoltification and possibly sexual maturation in salmon. This project is designed to elucidate the function of tshβb and investigate how photoperiod and temperature can be optimized to allow robust tshβb expression and thereby efficient smoltification, and as such help alleviate the occurrence of stunting.
