Urban Morphology is the study of the physical (or built) fabric of urban form, and the people and processes shaping it. It is a theoretical method to describe and explain the physical planning context as form and thus transformation, in which planners, architects and developers interact.

The course gives both a theoretical and practical insight in how Urban morphology as an interdisciplinary approach can contribute to research in urban planning and development issues. The overall aim is conceptualizing the complexity of spatial structure of human settlements through the perspective of urban form and to present guidelines for mapping, describing and explaining urban change and transformation.
