Course contents:
The purpose of the seminar series is to create a common framework and common environment for research program students and give students training in presentation and dissemination. This is full-day seminars with an emphasis on sciences an research. It will be held at the beginning of each semester. It is mandatory all four seminars and are arranged by the student representatives (2 people) from the Research Programm, in collaboration with the student administration. 1 and 3.seminar are held simultaneously so that all students have a seminar together. Students who are at their 1st seminar will present their research projects with title, background, research design, hypothesis, materials and methods. Students who are on their 3rd seminar will give a more detailed presentation with more focus on results and discussion, and will also present their project with a poster. The new students will gain experience of those students who have completed the first year on the program. It is a forum for discussion, exchange of ideas and information for all students. Supervisors are encouraged to participate. Seminar 2 focuses on scientific writing. Seminar four is organized as a "mini trial lecture" where the student hold a 15-20 minute lecture on a topic that the supervisor determines and allocates two weeks before the seminar. The topic will be designed so that it is tailored to the student's area of ¿¿expertise, but do not overlap significantly with the research project. The student have to acquire new knowledge and present it. After the lecture, the student will get feedback from the supervisor about what was good and what areas that need to be worked on further. Emphasis should be on performance and time spent as well as the structure, comprehensibility and Audience Targeting. The seminar is held as lunch meeting at the institute or as a "Friday seminar" / other seminars open for interested.
