About this course

The course will be given as a combination of lectures and assignments. The following feeding-related diseases will be treated: indigestions, ketosis, hypocalcemia, hypomagnesemia and diseases related to micro minerals.

Learning outcome

The aim of the course it to give students basic knowledge in feeding-related production diseases in cattle and how to diagnosticate these. The students are to gain skills in the evaluation of different strategies to prevent feed-related production diseases by using a new analytical and feed planning tool. The course is arranged in collaboration between ProdMed and IHA, and the students will learn to utilize the comparative competence.
  • The teaching is carried out as a combination of lectures and exercises. The purpose of the exercises is to link theoretical and practical issues together. Through the exercise assignment, students will find relevant literature to answer the assignment and use a computer tool to simulate problems related to the assignments.
  • -Students will be followed up through plenary discussions or group review of the exercises

  • Deadline for withdrawal is 15. December. Compulsory attendance first day.
